Prior
to drilling through and handling contaminated soil, workers will be informed of the chemical hazards
and the impacts to human health from exposure to these chemicals via tailgate safety meetings.
Training topics covered should include hazard recognition, flammability and toxicity of chemicals
anticipated to be onsite, use of site monitoring instruments, use of respiratory equipment and other
PPE, etc.
COMMUNICATIONS
Communication in the work zone, including into or out of the exclusion zone, will
generally be accomplished by voice and signaling system. A cellular telephone also will be
available on site for purposes of communicating emergency situations. Cellular phones will not
be used within the hot zone due to potential ignition of vapors.
INSTRUMENT CALIBRATION
Padre will calibrate air monitoring instruments per manufacturer's specifications and in
accordance with procedures described in the operational manuals provided with the monitoring
instruments.
13.0621 Kaiser Stockton TWP-HSP revised
-A7-
