•Strapping
• Use only Fluid Containment fiberglass anchor straps.
•
• Place anchor straps between the arrows (►•) on the tank
sides over each designated rib location.
• Use anchor straps specifically designated for each diameter
of tank. Curvature of strap matches each tank diameter.
• Properly space anchor points:
❑ The proper distance between anchor points is:
• Tank diameter plus one deadman width for con-
crete deadmen.
• Tank diameter plus 12" to 24" for concrete
anchor pad.
❑ Place anchor points on both sides of tank.
❑ Anchor points must be aligned with designated ribs
(►•) +1"•
• For double-wall tanks,
❑ Anchor straps must be placed in the strap guides
on each designated rib (►).
• For single-wall tanks,
❑ Anchor straps must be placed on top of each
designated rib (D-4).
Wire Rope , FRP Strap
Triple Syme E
Clamp Double Wall /aeegeui
\ Tank
0, OEM WMA
Dead Man Anchor Pad System
Anchor System
Tank End View
Fiberglas Strep
Strap A/
Eyelet
Galvanized
Steel T
F G
D
E --)-
Strap
►Strap Eyelet
Detail A
Tank Diameter
Nominal H D E F G
4'
21"
9/16"
13/8"
1 1/8"
2 1/16"
6'
34"
1 1/8"
2 7/8"
2 1/2"
4 1/4"
8'
38"
1 1/8"
2 7/8"
2 1/2"
4 1/4"
10'
52"
1 1/8"
2 7/8"
2 1/2"
4 1/4"
• All anchor straps must be uniformly tightened with turn-
buckles or come -a -longs. Straps should be snug, but not
cause tank deflection.
• Measure tank deflection by measuring tank diameter be-
fore and after snugging straps.
• Use standard nonmetallic gauge stick.
• See Installation Checklist for specific measurement in-
structions.
•Triple clamp wire rope.
• If deflection occurs, loosen straps to allow tank to go
back into round.
Note: Do not use straps between ribs!
(Exception 4' diameter tanks.)
Concrete Anchor Pad
The weight of the overburden on the concrete pad and tank
provides anchoring force. The anchor pad information pro-
vided below is strictly for buoyancy:
• Anchor Pad should be at least 8" thick, with #6 rebar at
12" on center each way.
• Poor soil conditions may require increased reinforcement
and anchor pad thickness. Contact a soils consultant for
specifics.
Bed
12 Minimum
24" Maximum
#6 Rebar
8" Minimum o 0
°
Concrete Pad °
00 ° °o ° o 0
o
R
mIllli' ILII///
`/ /IlI
Bed
PIL
• The pad must be at least the same length as the tank.
• The pad must extend a minimum of 18" beyond the sides
of the tank.
• In unstable soils, it is best to extend the pad to excava-
tion wall.
• Multiple tank installations require 24" minimum spac-
ing between tanks.
• Imbed anchor points in concrete (see Anchoring Hard-
ware section page 8).
• Make sure there is at least 12" bedding between concrete
pad and tanks. The maximum bedding is 24".
• Attach anchor points to the ends of anchor straps with
turnbuckles or wire rope.
• Refer to Anchoring Hardware Section for hardware in-
formation.
• Triple clamp wire rope.
Deadman Anchors
• The weight of the overburden on top of the deadman and
tank provides the anchoring force.
• Deadmen are made with reinforced concrete (246 rebars
centered vertically).
7
R
/Triple Clamp
l
Bed
a o Minimum
Height
oo
#8 Rebar
o
o 00
00
14— Width
7
