Provide a corrective action statement to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department <br /> within 30 days. Use the link below and create a business portal account for CERS. <br /> https://cers.calepa.ca.gov/ <br /> This is a Class II violation. <br /> 301 CCR 66262.34(d)(2) Facility not maintained to minimize the release of a hazardous waste. <br /> OBSERVATION: The following were observed near the hazardous waste storage area: <br /> -Used absorbent and used oil stains observed on the floor of the shop. <br /> -Used coolant observed accumulating on top of one 55 gallon drum with used coolant. <br /> -Approximately 19 used oil filters observed throughout the shop. Operator states that he intends on disposing used <br /> oil filters as hazardous waste but has not found a container for them. <br /> Note: Operator states that he does not recycle used metal oil filters. <br /> REGULATION GUIDANCE:A hazardous waste generator must maintain and operate its facility to minimize the <br /> possibility of a fire, explosion, or any unplanned sudden or non-sudden release of hazardous waste or hazardous <br /> waste constituents to air, soil, or surface water which could threaten human health or the environment. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately clean stains and accumulating coolant. Manage the waste according to Title <br /> 22 California Code of Regulations for hazardous waste.
