Chaney]Waltrin & McCa11 (LLC) UST Site Assessment Work Plan Former Dole-Victor Fruit Operations Site 8731 East Highway 12,Victor,California BACKGROUND Site History A single wall,metal construction UST of 550-gallon capacity was originally installed for storing gasoline at the Site by the Site's previous owner, Tenneco West. Dole Fresh Fruit Company acquired the VFO facility from Tenneco West in late 1985. The UST was used by VFO until November 1991,when the UST was removed from service. According to PHS/EHD records,tank integrity tests were performed annually as required. The pre-acquisition testing results indicated that tic results were within the NFPA 329 Guidelines,and that the UST and piping system were considered "tight". Based on review of information available from PHS/EHD and Dale records,there is no indication that repairs were ever necessary for the tarok or associated fuel lines. Topographic Map of Site Vicinity A generalized topographic map of the Site and vicinity is provided on Figure 1. A schematic Site Plan is presented on Figure 2. As observed on Figure 1,the Mokelumne River is located approximately one zt le north and west of the VFO facility. The subject Site is generally level at an elevation of approximately 75 feet above mean sea level,as indicrdtecl on the U.S. Geological Survey's l.ockeford,California 7.5-minute quadrangle map- In June 1993,VFO installed three shallow groundwater monitoring wells around the VFO discharge pond,which is located at the north end of the former Dole property. The monitoring wells are screened at approximately 80 feet below ground sure, to monitor the quality of shallow groundwater for potential facility sturmwater and cherry juice wastewater constituents. These wells are designated MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3. The San Joaquin County Utilities Maintenance office(Sass Joaquin County Utilities) in Stockton,maintains the Victor community water supply well identified as Victor Well No.2. According to San Joaquin County Utilities,Victor Well No. 1 was closed prior to 1981 due to elevated DBCP concentrations in water samples. Victor Well No_2 is located approximately 500 feet east/northeast of the VFO facilities. As described on the Victor No. 2 well Iog,the ivell depth is 483 fret below ground surface(bgs). A surface seal or isolation casing is hi tailed from surf toe to 58.5 feet bgs, and an additional inner casing is installed from the surface to 187 feet bgs. If appropriate,a detailed Site flan will be prepared and submitted in the Addendum Report. The Addendum Report will document the Site Assessment procedures and investigation results.
