i
i11 February 2005
AGE-NC Project No 00-0696
iPage 6 of 7
i4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Based on the data collected from the site, AGE concludes
iIn general, moist, black peat and silty peat were encountered In borings MW1 and MW2
from surface grade to approximately 5 feet bsg In boring MW1, and from surface grade to
i approximately 9 5 feet bsg in boring MW2 Some hydrocarbon staining occurred In the peat
In boring MW2 Black fill dirt was encountered In boring MW3 from surface grade to
approximately 5 feet bsg,and moist to saturated,blue gray,silty clay, sandy clay,and clayey
i silt was encountered in boring MW4 from surface grade to approximately 15 feet bsg,
underlain by very moist to saturated, gray brown to blue gray silty sand and sandy silt that
extended to total depth From 10 feet bsg to the total depths of borings MW 1 through MW3,
i interbedded layers of moist to saturated, orange brown, brown, and green brown sandy silt,
silty sand, silty clay, clayey silt, and clay were encountered
i TPH-g was detected in soil samples MW3-10 and MW3-15 at concentrations of 5 2 mg/kg
and 1 5 mg/kg, respectively BTEX compounds were detected In samples MW3-10 and
MW3-15 at maximum concentrations In MW3-10 of 0 064 mg/kg toluene, 0 13 mg/kg
i. ethylbenzene, and 0 64 mg/kg total xylenes
• On 29 November 2004,depths to ground water ranged from 4 45 feet to 5 18 feet below the
tops of the well casings Ground water elevation at the site ranged from 16 85 feet to
i17 34 feet below MSL, and averaged approximately 17 10 feet below MSL
• On 29 November 2004, ground water at the site was inferred to be flowing toward the
i northeast and north-northwest under equivalent hydraulic gradients of approximately
0 01 ft/ft
i BTEX compounds were detected In the ground water sample from well MW-3 at
concentrations of 2 6 µg/1 benzene,3 6µg/1 toluene,2 5 µg/1 ethylbenzene,and 8 4µg/1 total
xylenes
iThe vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil is defined In boring MW3,
hydrocarbon contamination was not detected In samples collected below 15 feet bsg
i The lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbon contamination is defined in the east by
monitoring well MW-4 and In the southwest by wells MW-1 and MW-2 The lateral extent
of contamination Is not yet defined to the north, south, or southeast of well MW-3
I
I
iAdvanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
i
