f-3
Three samples from the site contained low levels of toluene.
Sample S-8, from the Pit A stockpile, contained 4.9 mg/Kg of
toluene. The soil in this stockpile was derived from throughout
the 22 foot deep Pit A excavation. Sample S-1, from the most
recent Pit B re-excavation stockpile, contained 1.5 mg/Kg of
toluene. This soil was derived primarily from the northern end of
€: the pit, down to a maximum depth of five feet BGS. Sample S-3,
0 ' from the western sides of Pit B at a depth of 2.5 feet BGS,
contained 2.9 mg/Kg of toluene.
¢ All of the soil samples were analyzed for the
t p" y presence of total
lead. The average total lead concentration from the eight samples figs
was 1:0.8 mg/Kg with a high of 18.3 from S-2, and a low of 7.1 mg/Kg
from 5-7. Upon the request of the San Joaquin County EHD, samples
S-2 and S-6 were analyzed for soluble lead by the California
Assessment Manual Waste Extraction Test (CAM WET) . S-2 contained
0.12 mg/L soluble lead while S-6 contained no detectable soluble
I < lead.
bra In accord with specific discussion by WESTON with the EHD, soil
samples from this re--sampling effort were not analyzed for ethylene
dibromide (EDB) . d
5.2 Water Sampling Results
[`1
A water sample, designated S-9, was collected from an irrigation
supply well adjacent to the subject site and analyzed for BTEX,
TPH-G, EDB and Total Lead. Analytical results indicate no
detectable levels of any of these compounds in the water.
6.0 Analysis of Site conditions
The State of California Leaking Underground Fuel Tank Manual (LUFT
Manual) contains a method for determining the potential impact cf
3 gasoline leaks on the environment. The Leaching Potential Analysis
Chart from the LUFT Manual is presented as Figure 3.
The following discussion addresses each of the site feature
categories used in this figure with respect to the subject site.
1) Minimum Depth to Groundwater: Based on data from the San
Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District
(1988 Nay) , the depth to groundwater in Linden is approximate-
ly 125 feet.
2) Fractures in Subsurface: This applies only to foothill or
mountain areas, as stated on the form.
Average--Annual--Precipitation -(inches) : approximately--14-- — -- — - -- --
inches per year.
}
6 -
