The Site Safety Officer will notify the Project Manager and <br /> appropriate measures to reduce the hazard or. exposure to the hazard will be <br /> implemented. <br /> SECTION 5 <br /> PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT <br /> A modified Level D protective gear will be used until the extent of the hazard on site has <br /> been determined. Personal working in the contaminated zone will be required to wear <br /> appropriate protective clothing. <br /> Proper equipment for this level includes: <br /> 1. Hard hat; <br /> 2. Boot/shoes- safety or steel-toed; <br /> 3. Safety glasses or safety goggles; <br /> 4. Protective masks for nuisance dust, as required. <br /> HEARING PROTECTION ; <br /> Employees will be protected from the effects of noise exposures which exceed the <br /> noise levels deemed to be safe as defined in 29 CFR part 1900. In operations 4 <br /> where the noise limit exceeds limits, hearing protection shall be provided and <br /> used <br /> SECTION 6 <br /> WORK ZONES <br /> The work zones will be determined by the Project Manager and the Site Safety <br /> Officer before,the start of drilling operations. { <br /> The three zone system will be employed. i.e. exclusion zone, contamination i <br /> reduction zone, and support area. i <br /> SECTION 7 <br /> DECONTAMINATION PROCEDURES <br /> Personnel equipment worn into the Contamination Zone and not disposed of upon <br /> exit will be decontaminated upon leaving the Contamination Reduction Area. All <br /> protective apparel such as chemical protective suits, gloves and outer boots will <br /> be disposed of in receptacles located in the Contamination Reduction Zone. <br /> Respiratory protective equipment and safety glasses will be washed with <br /> detergent and water solution.
