Ms. Lori Duncan, R.E.H.S.
August 29, 2008
The driller will destroy the wells by over-drilling the boreholes and casings with a truck-
mounted drilling rig and 10-inch diameter hollow-stem augers. Once all of the well materials
have been removed, the driller will seal the resulting boreholes by filling them with neat
cement grout, placed to the bottom of the boreholes with a tremie pipe. The driller will cap
the cement-filled boreholes with six-inch layers of concrete-or asphalt to match the
surrounding pavements.
The driller will contain the',waste well materials and soil in 55-gallon drums for temporary
on-site storage pending waste characterization and proper disposition. To characterize the
waste, Ramage Environmental will collect representative soil samples for laboratory analysis.
, -- - The lab.-will analyze the..samples-for.petroleum hydrocarbons.and-total lead; so that the waste,. _ k
can be profiled for disposal into a appropriate landfill. Based on the existing set of,soil
sample analytical results, Ramage Environmental expects that the well destruction waste will
be disposed of as non-hazardous-waste at a nearby facility.
The results of the well destructions and waste disposal will be documented in a brief letter
report, which will be submitted to EHD and the Central Valley Regional Water Quality
Control Board (RWQCB).;Ramage Environmental will.also submit well completion reports
documenting the well destructions to the California Department of Water Resources (DWR).
Thank you for your review of this work plan and overall assistance on this project. If you
have questions or need any additional information, please call me at(775) 851-7239 or send
an e-mail to joeramage@sbeglobal.net.
Sincerely, NA►„ G
FO..
RAMAGE ENVIRONMENTAL, INC. pts
JOSEPH
d R. .{
RAMAGE r
1 %P Np.S856 Q
z ,_Joseph Ramage, P.G.
Project Manager I; - 0[ALF '
Expires April 30,20 0 4
• h
Attachments: Site Plan
Monitoring Well Logs(MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3)
CC: Ms. Kerry Wasson- San Joaquin County Facilities Management
Mr. James Barton-Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
I
