Due to the size of the casing with centralizers, 11.25" at the couplings and 15.5" at the
centralizers there is no guarantee that the bit will stay on the casing
If the bit did manage to stay on the casing to the screen there is no guarantee that the bit
would stay on the hole due to the wires balling up (this is a wire wrap screen .188 wire).
EW-18 is a groundwater extraction well and the SJC Well Standards for destruction of
groundwater extraction wells (Section 6) specify that extraction wells will be destroyed by
sealing the interior of the well casing.
Blasting is not recommended for the following reasons:
Because of the close proximity to two existing extraction wells, one that has a screened
interval the same as the interval that would be blasted. There is a high chance it would be
impacted from the blast.
Because of the age of the grout (less than 30 days) there is no guarantee that the grout will
flow into the fractures created by the blast.
The well location is in close proximity to a surface water basin and blasting could cause
ground movement and damage the basin.
The property owner will not allow explosives on the property due to health and safety
hazards associated with the materials that are manufactured at the facility.
I have attached a location map the a-log and information on the perforating tool for your
reference. If you have any questions please feel free to call or email.
Thank You ?3 i3,1 -7.
Randy Dockery
Project Manager
Gregg Drilling, LLC
950 Howe Rd
Martinez, CA 94553
925-313-5800
925-313-0302 (? 17. y
