The Site is located at 16777 South Howland Road near <br /> the southwest corner of Louise Avenue and South Howland Road in Lathrop, San Joaquin <br /> County, California (Figure 1). ARCADIS U.S., Inc., (ARCADIS) is currently conducting a source <br /> area excavation for sulfolane in accordance with the Sulfolane Remedial Investigation Report and <br /> Soil Excavation and Well Installation Work Plans, prepared by ARCADIS and dated July 15, 2011 <br /> (work plan; ARCADIS 2011). The work plan was approved by the California Regional Water <br /> Quality Control Board (RWQCB) in their letter to GSH dated August 26, 2011. The excavation is <br /> being conducted under the oversight of the City of Lathrop, Community Development <br /> Department, Building Permit Number 11-00183 dated September 28, 2011. <br /> UST Information and Liquid Characterization <br /> An approximately 300-gallon, steel, UST was found during excavation preparation activities on <br /> Friday September 30, 2011. Approximately 175 gallons of liquid was observed in the UST and the <br /> UST did not appear to be leaking. Liquid characterization samples were collected from the UST <br /> and analyzed by Alpha Analytical, a California-certified analytical laboratory and Agriculture & <br /> Priority Pollutants Laboratory, Inc., (APPL), a California-certified and National Environmental <br /> Laboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC) certified laboratory for the following: <br /> • Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) full scan (purgeable and extractable) by United States <br /> Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method SW8015B <br /> • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) by EPA Method SW8260B <br /> • Sulfolane according to by APPL SOP ANASULF using a Gas Chromatograph/Mass <br /> Spectrometer(GC/MS) <br /> • Ignitability by EPA Method SW1010 <br /> • Toxicity using fish bioassay (Rainbow Trout) <br /> • Reactivity by EPA Method SW846 <br /> • Corrosivity by EPA Method SW846 <br /> • 1,2-dibromo-3-chloropropane (DBCP) and ethylene dibromide (EDB) using EPA Method <br /> 8260B <br /> 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 1350 <br /> Dallas,TX 75244-6119 <br />
