'F San Joaquin County
Public Health Services
June 13, 1990
Page 2
Board to Mr. Hal Miller at Southland Corporation. It was
disconcerting to have Mr. Pinkos confirm our fears that South-
land Corporation has not been doing what it should to effec-
tively remediate the contamination. It was our understanding
that groundwater monitoring was already in place, yet there
was apparently no knowledge of the gradient of such ground-
water. Without such knowledge, we understand the monitoring
program cannot be effective. Southland Corporation has the i
capacity to hire appropriate consultants to devise and imple-
ment a remedial o
r gram ,that is effective.-.. :Instead of doing
so, there seem to be any number. of reasons why 'the remedial
program cannot be implemented. On behalf of our client, we
would ask that closer supervision and better control be exer-
cised over this site to ensure that the remedial actions will
promptly yield the desired results.
If I can be of help in support of that objective, please
J
let me know.
Very ly urs,,
r
R y C bell
RC:sbs
cc: John Welty
Thomas Pinkos
Patti De La 0, Brown and Caldwell
RECEIVE 0"!
JUN 1 9 1990
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
PERMIT/SERVICES
C
