i
Ms. Mary F. Meays January 18, 1995
The Southland Corporation-9110 Thornton Rd.,Stockton,CA 4
REMEDIATION EFFORTS TO DATE
Since 1986, Southland has spent significant efforts and expenses to reduce the risks associated with
the hydrocarbons in the subsurface, and the above summary of the contaminants remaining in the
subsurface to date illustrates that remediation has achieved reduction of risks to insignificant levels.
Additionally to remediation efforts, Southland has also conducted approximately 34 quarters of
groundwater gauging and sampling, which clearly document that dissolved hydrocarbons have been
reduced to below action levels.
Monitoring of plezometer wells MW-15 and MWA7 also Indicates that there Is no vertical downward
groundwater gradient In the aquifer; reducing the risk of downward contaminant migration.
Southland also removed the tanks and associated piping at this site, eliminating the risk of further
contamination of the subsurface.
CONCLUSIONS
The above summary of recent soil sampling, vapor sampling and groundwater monitoring clearly
indicate that only an Insignificant amount of hydrocarbons remain In the subsurface, and that the site
should be considered closed.
Sincerely,
Groundwater Technology, Inc.
