PHS/EHD has prepared the following comments <br /> for your consideration. <br /> PHS/EHD does not concur with the recommendation to close the site based on available <br /> information. Residual soil contamination is inferred based on recent air sampling which may <br /> pose a risk to groundwater in the future and groundwater contamination continues to be <br /> evidenced. Additional groundwater monitoring, soil sampling and remediation will be <br /> necessary prior to PHS/EHD evaluating the site for closure certification. Also, please note <br /> that this site was briefly discussed at the June 15, 1994 Technical Review Committee (TRC) <br /> meeting attended by PHS/EHD and Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board <br /> I (CVRWQCB) staff. The TRC also concurred that current site conditions did not warrant <br /> site closure. <br /> GROUNDWATER CONTA 19NATION <br /> Groundwater samples were collected on January 24, 1994 by both GTI and the CVRWQCB <br /> which continued to evidence groundwater contamination. <br /> The most recent gradient was not calculated but the direction was determined to be both <br /> southwesterly and easterly. The groundwater elevations were not included for MW 11 and <br /> MW14 nor was there any indication why they were not. In fact, the field data sheets for the <br /> sampling conducted by GTI were not included in the report. Please submit the field data <br /> sheet for the sampling conducted by GTI within the next report submitted. <br /> Please be aware that until site closure is granted, quarterly monitoring and reporting are <br /> required. <br /> Table 1 did not include the results of the most recent sampling event. In addition to <br /> summarizing current results, sampling results should be included in the historical data table <br /> for comparison and evaluation purposes. <br /> j <br /> A Dkision of San Joaquin County Health Care Services <br />
