Groundwater Technology Inc. ar,t <br /> retained by the Southland Corporation to conduct an as,e;,SmenL <br /> because a leak detection system and inventory records indicated a <br /> Leak Of gasoline type hydrocarbons could be occurring at this <br /> site. The assessment investigation confirmed that an inadv1_rtent <br /> loss of hydrocarbon, product had occurred and an initial ab<.t.cinE rrt <br /> Program was established. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> A precision tank system test conducted on March 26, 1986 <br /> detected an unleaded system failure. The unleaded tank and <br /> distribution system was shut down April 2, 1986 when test results <br /> F <br /> were received and reviewed. <br /> In mid-April 1986 Groundwater Technology Inc, was contracted <br /> .ract <br /> by the Southland Corporation to investigate the extent of <br /> contamination resulting from the inadvertent leakage.
