7-Eleven/Stockton 16
May, 1989
During this reporting period six monitoring wells were not
available for groundwater monitoring and sampl:.ng. Prolonged
regional drought conditions have caused groundwater levels to
decline sharply. As a result, MW-2, MW-3 and MW-4 have gone dry.
MW-5, located in a low-lying area which tends to collect standing
water, is unavailable during the winter and spring months. MW-6
is no longer in service, since it was abandoned in September 1986
due to the reconstruction of Thornton Road. MW-12 is also no
longer available, since a stuck pump obstructed it in January
1987.
REMEDIATION SYSTEMS
The remediation systems currently operating at the site
consist of a groundwater-extraction system and a soil-vent
system. The groundwater-extraction system consists of pumping
wells designed to depress the water table and remove free product
and an air stripper designed to treat the dissolved constituents
in the groundwater. The soj.l-vent system was installed to
control hydrocarbon vapors and to aid in reducing the adsorbed
contamination in the vadose--zone soils near the tank pit.
GROUNDWATER REMEDIATION SYSTEM
Groundwater is currently being extracted from PW-1 at a rate
of 0.4-gallon per minute (gpm) and from the recovery well (RW-1)
at a rate of 1.3 gpm. The total pumping rate of 1.7 gpm remains
consistent with those reported during previous reporting periods.
The areas the pumping is influencing are illustrated on the
previously referenced groundwater gradient maps (Figures 4, 5,
and 6) .
GROUNDWATER
TECMOLOGY.INC.
