EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Vapor Extraction Technology, Inc. (VET) was retained by The Southland Corporation
in October of 1989 to provide remediation services at the 7-ELEVEN Store at 9110
Thornton Road in Stockton, California. The soils and groundwater at the site were
contaminated with gasoline as a result of previous product line leakage between the
pump island and the undarground storage tanks.
The work performed since the initial startup of the VES operation includes, source
testing of the VES, operation of the VES for nearly ten months with weekly monitoring,
change-outs of the activated carbon as needed, and monthly reporting to the San
# Joaquin County Air Pollution Control District (SJCAPCD) as required ire the permit.
The system has received a complete Permit to Operate from the SJCAPCD issued in
t
March 1990. This work has been performed as part of the VET proposal dated
October 23, 1989 in accordance with Southland Corporation's Work Order #CAN-
20680-7 dated October 25, 1989. The VES installation was completed and began
j
operating January 5, 1990. As of September 30, 1990, over 3,400 pounds of gasoline
i
as vapor has been extracted from the soils and shallow groundwater.
i
r:
E
1
VAPOR EXTRACTION TECHNOLOGY.
