r <br /> CALIFORNIA REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL O <br /> CENTRAL VALLEY REGION <br /> ORDER NO. <br /> WASTE DISCHARGE REQUIREMENTS <br /> FOR <br /> TENNECO WEST, INC. <br /> SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY <br /> The California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region, <br /> (hereafter Board) finds that: <br /> 1. Tenneco West, Inc. (hereafter Tenneco) presently discharges cherry brine <br /> waste generated from fruit processing operations to land disposal . The <br /> facility was formerly owned by Victor Fruit Growers. No waste discharge <br /> requirements have been adopted for previous operations. <br /> 2. Tenneco discharges 3,050 gallons per day (0.13 1/sec) of wastewater with <br /> high salt and organic content from fruit processing operations to a series <br /> of six shallow percolation checks with intermittent irrigation of 11 acres <br /> of company-owned vineyards. <br /> 3. Tenneco is in Section 4, T3N, R7E, MDB&M with surface water drainage to a <br /> municipal stormwater system which discharges to the Mokelumne River. <br /> 4. The beneficial uses of Mokelumne River are municipal , industrial and agri- <br /> cultural supply; recreation; esthetic enjoyment; navigation; freshwater <br /> replenishment; and preservation and enhancement of fish, wildlife and other <br /> aquatic resources. <br /> 5. The beneficial uses of the ground water are municipal , industrial , and <br /> agricultural supply. <br /> 6. The Board, on 25 July 1975, adopted a Water Quality Control Plan for the <br /> Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Basin (5B) which contains water quality objec- <br /> tives for all inland waters on the Basin. <br /> 7. The San Joaquin County Planning Department on 23 December 1980 adopted a <br /> Negative Declaration on this project in accordance with the California <br /> Environmental Quality Act, Public Resources Code, Section 21,000 et seq. <br /> 8. The Board has reviewed the Negative Declaration and concurs there are no <br /> significant impacts on water quality. <br /> 9. The Board has notified the discharger and interested agencies and persons of <br /> its intent to prescribe waste discharge requirements for this discharge. <br />
