r CALIFORNIA REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL O CENTRAL VALLEY REGION ORDER NO. WASTE DISCHARGE REQUIREMENTS FOR TENNECO WEST, INC. SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY The California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region, (hereafter Board) finds that: 1. Tenneco West, Inc. (hereafter Tenneco) presently discharges cherry brine waste generated from fruit processing operations to land disposal . The facility was formerly owned by Victor Fruit Growers. No waste discharge requirements have been adopted for previous operations. 2. Tenneco discharges 3,050 gallons per day (0.13 1/sec) of wastewater with high salt and organic content from fruit processing operations to a series of six shallow percolation checks with intermittent irrigation of 11 acres of company-owned vineyards. 3. Tenneco is in Section 4, T3N, R7E, MDB&M with surface water drainage to a municipal stormwater system which discharges to the Mokelumne River. 4. The beneficial uses of Mokelumne River are municipal , industrial and agri- cultural supply; recreation; esthetic enjoyment; navigation; freshwater replenishment; and preservation and enhancement of fish, wildlife and other aquatic resources. 5. The beneficial uses of the ground water are municipal , industrial , and agricultural supply. 6. The Board, on 25 July 1975, adopted a Water Quality Control Plan for the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Basin (5B) which contains water quality objec- tives for all inland waters on the Basin. 7. The San Joaquin County Planning Department on 23 December 1980 adopted a Negative Declaration on this project in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act, Public Resources Code, Section 21,000 et seq. 8. The Board has reviewed the Negative Declaration and concurs there are no significant impacts on water quality. 9. The Board has notified the discharger and interested agencies and persons of its intent to prescribe waste discharge requirements for this discharge.
