INFORMATION SHEET <br /> TENNECO WEST, INC. <br /> SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY <br /> Tenneco West, Inc. , formerly Victor Fruit Growers, operates a cherry brining <br /> facility located on State Highway 12, west of Victor, California. <br /> Tenneco' s cherry brining operation discharges 3,050 gpd (0.13 1/sec) of <br /> wastewater to a series of six shallow settling ponds. Tenneco also has the <br /> ability to utilize the wastewater for intermittent irrigation of vineyards. <br /> Domestic wastes are discharged to a septic tank leachfield system. <br /> Tenneco has implemented improved wastewater disposal methods which should <br /> reduce odors which have been a problem in the past. <br /> A Negative Declaration was adopted by the San Joaquin County Planning <br /> Department on 23 December 1980 and a Conditional Use Permit was issued by <br /> the San Joaquin County Board of Zoning Adjustment on 8 January 1981 . One <br /> condition of the use permit was that Tenneco obtain Waste Discharge Require- <br /> ments from the Regional Board. <br /> Soils in the area consist of Hanford sandy loam underlain by Pamona sandy <br /> loam and Rocklin loam. Ground water occurs at approximately 80 feet (24.4 m) <br /> below ground surface. Mean annual precipitation is approximately 15 inches. <br /> The Waste Discharge Requirements include a ground water monitoring program <br /> to assure the method of disposal (evaporation/percolation) will not adversely <br /> affect the beneficial uses of ground water underlying the site. <br /> REF:sb 5-12-82 <br />
