San Joaquin County Planning Division Page 2 of 2
January 15, 1993
LUSD is pursuing a number of measures to alleviate school overcrowding. The
first is application for State school building funds; however, that program has
no money, nor is any expected. Other measures include lease of portable
classrooms, Year Round Education (YRE); bussing between schools, and the
levy of development fees. All of these measures are limited and, even when
taken. altogether, are inadequate to meet the needs of a growing enrollment.
Pursuant to the General Plan policies, the District requests that new residential
developments be approved only when there are adequate school facilities to
serve students from the development.
In 1991, the District Governing Board established a standard agreement, and an
amount that could be paid in the form of a supplemental development fee to
provide for adequate school facilities to serve new developments if other
measures, such as State funding, are inadequate.
By copy of this letter, we will be contacted the developer of this project
regarding an agreement for provision of adequate school facilities. If
provisions are not made for adequate school facilities, the District will request
that the project be denied, pursuant to General Plan policy.
If we may provide additional information, or respond to any questions, please
do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
lam'/i►.
Mary Joan Starr
Facility Planner
cc: Bible Baptist Church
