March 1991 <br /> I <br /> • Evaluation of site data and development of recommendations for the reduction In site <br /> tactivities, or reactivation of the soil vent and/or hydraulic control systems <br /> IA site closure decision tree is provided (Figure 6) The details associated with implementation of the <br /> work steps are described in the following section <br /> WORK STEPS <br /> ITANK AND PIPING REMOVAL <br /> Southland will be removing the existing underground storage tank and associated piping <br /> Groundwater Technology personnel will be on-site during the removal to collect sod samples in <br />' compliance with state and local regulations There are three 10,000 gallon gasoline storage tanks in the <br /> tank pit which are connected to the pump dispensers by about 40-feet of underground piping Two sod <br /> samples will be collected per tank and three samples will collected from along the pipe runs (or at least <br /> one per every 20 linear feet) Additionally, soil samples will be collected from the tank pit at locations <br /> where observable impact by petroleum product is present <br /> The sod samples will be collected in brass tubes, capped, taped, labeled and stored on Ice for <br /> Itransport to a State of California-certified laboratory using standard chain-of-custody procedures The <br /> samples will be analyzed for BTEX and TPH-as-gasoline compounds using Environmental Protection <br /> Agency (EPA) Methods 5030/8020/8015 In addition, samples will be analyzed for total lead using EPA <br /> Method 6010 A background sod sample will be collected from the shallow sods near MW-9 for <br /> comparison of total lead concentrations <br /> IMONITORING WELL INSTALLATION <br /> The Work Plan includes the installation of three monitoring wells to provide additional data on <br /> water quality As shown on Figure 7, Proposed Monitoring Well Locations, one well will be installed on <br /> site near the former tank pit location, and two wells will be installed off site on Connie Avenue The <br /> following sections describe the work steps associated with the well installations <br /> i <br /> C GROUNDWATER <br /> TECHNOLOGY, INC <br />
