However, in 1982 and 1983, prior to the drought period, annual precipitation was almost twice normal. Therefore, the magnitude of the decline In ' the groundwater-table elevation may be In response to the prolonged drought conditions occurring after an abnormally-elevated groundwater level at the beginning of the monitoring period. During this reporting period, the following groundwater-monitoring wells could not be monitored on the specified dates as the decline in water level has caused them to go dry: • Wells MW-3, MW-4, MW-5, MW-10 and PW-2 on July 29, 1991. • Wells MW-2, MW-3, MW-4, MW-5, MW-8, MW-10 and PW-2 on August 26, 1991. • Wells MW-2, MW-3, MW-4, MW-5, MW-9, MW-10 and PW-2 on September 26,1991. Additionally, monitoring wells MW-6 and MW-12 are no longer In service and monitoring wells MW-11 and MW-14 were not monitored or sampled at Southland's direction. The well completion data and current status of the monitoring wells at the site are summarized on Table 1. The Potentiometric Surface Maps for July, August and September 1991 (Figures 4, 5 and 6) represent ' the interpreted groundwater-table elevations beneath the site for each of the last three months of this reporting period. The regional groundwater-gradient direction remains to the east as previously ' reported. The gradient magnitude was found to be approximately 0.002 feet-per-feet (ft/ft) for July and August, and 0.003 ft/ft for September.
