Quarterly Project Update Report January 29, 1993
Southland Store No 20680, 9110 Thornton Road, Stockton, CA 2
21 Groundwater Monitoring
IThe DTW in the groundwater monitoring wells was monitored on December 23, 1992 The
monitoring data are presented in Table 1 Groundwater in the monitoring wells was allowed to
I stabilize to the static level before monitoring water levels The DTW and depth to separate-phase
hydrocarbons were measured to the nearest 0 01 foot from the top of the well casing, using an
INTERFACE PROBET" Well Monitoring System Groundwater monitoring was performed according
to Groundwater Technology's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS) Copies of the SOPs are
included in Appendix A
Analysis of the groundwater monitoring data Indicates that groundwater elevations In the monitoring
wells at the site have increased approximately 1 foot since September 24, 1992 As of December
23, 1992, the average groundwater elevation at the site was 36 30 feet below mean sea level (MSI_),
Iand the average DTW at the site was 48 26 feet below grade
Since the groundwater levels at the site were first monitored In May 1986, the local groundwater
elevation has fluctuated seasonally and steadily declined overall Groundwater monitoring wells
MW-2 through MW-5, MW-10, and former pumping well PW-2 could not be monitored on December
23, 1992, because they were dry Monitoring wells MW-6 and MW-12 are no longer In service and,
at Southland's direction, monitoring wells MWA1 and MWA4 are no longer being monitored or
Isampled The well completion data and current status of the monitoring wells at the site are
summarized in Table 2
A potentiometric surface map (Figure 3) was prepared using monitoring data collected on December
23, 1992 Figure 3 shows a groundwater flow direction to the ortheas ith a gradient of
approximately 0 003 foot per foot During this reporting period, a sheen of separate-phase
hydrocarbons was detected on the groundwater surface in monitoring well MWA
I
H1211A2 AH
r
— 1 ],'
',LGROUNDWATER
L];TECHNOLOGY, INC
