GROUNDWATER <br /> F11:11:1 TECHNOLOGY, INC. 4057 Port Chicago Highway,Concord CA 94520(415)671-2387 <br /> FAX (41.5)685 9148 <br /> July 31 1992 r Y <br /> Li S 4 <br /> Project No 020301211 AU G 1 2 1992 <br /> Ms Laurie A Cotulla ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH <br /> San Joaquin County PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> Public Health Services <br /> P O Box 2009 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 <br /> Subject Response to San Joaquin County Public Health Services PHS/EHD Letter Dated July 6, <br /> 1992, 7-Eleven Property No 20680, 9110 Thornton Road, Stockton, California <br /> Dear Ms Cotulla <br /> This letter has been prepared by Groundwater Technology, Inc , on behalf of the Southland Corporation, <br /> to respond to comments made in a letter from your office dated July 6, 1992 regarding the 7-Eleven <br /> property located at 9110 Thornton Road, Stockton, California The comments were directed towards two <br /> documents prepared By Groundwater Technology titled Proposal for Site Cleanup Confirmation dated <br /> May 5, 1992, and Proiect Quarterly UpdateReport dated May 11, 1992 The following responses <br /> I address comments of the same number in your July 6, 1992 letter included in Attachment A <br /> 1 The laboratory report for the groundwater samples collected on February 24, 1992 are <br /> included in Attachment B <br /> 2 Monitoring wells at the site are purged before sampling until the temperature, <br /> conductivity, and pH of the purge water has stabilized These parameters are recorded <br /> in the field and are available upon request <br /> 3 To date, the bailer in monitoring well MW-9 has not been recovered Another attempt <br /> will be made by the end of July 1992 <br /> 4 A signed copy of Chain of Custody Record No 19370 is included in Attachment C <br /> 5 The Southland Corporation acknowledges that the PHS/EHD will not agree to the <br /> proposed method to determine attainment of a cleanup objective, nor the cleanup <br /> objective of 10 parts per million (ppm) Data collected during the site cleanup <br /> confirmation will be reported to PHS/EHD and the Central Valley Regional Water Quality <br /> Control Board (CVRWQCB) for review <br /> 6 The vertical extent of the hydrocarbons detected in the soil sample collected from <br /> beneath the product lines will be evaluated during the site cleanup confirmation The <br /> method of removing these hydrocarbons will depend on the vertical extent Therefore, a <br /> plan to remediate these hydrocarbons will be presented to the PHS/EHD subsequent to <br /> the site cleanup confirmation investigation <br /> Offices throughout the US Canada and Overseas <br />
