The site plan (Plate 2) shows the current location of the station building,
adjacent streets, monitoring wells, and other site-specific features Background information on the
' site is included in Appendix A
The monitonng wells are sampled semiannually to monitor the shallow groundwater underlying the
site. The program objectives are listed below•
' • Measure depth of groundwater
• Plot groundwater contour surface within the site boundaries
' Sample and analyze groundwater samples
• Compare current and past data
' The existence and degree of petroleum hydrocarbons in the groundwater underlying the site is
determined by (1) the presence of free-floating product, and (2) laboratory analyses of
groundwater samples to determine concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel
(TPHD), total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG), as well as benzene, toluene, ethyl
' benzene, and total xylenes (BTEX).
Groundwater Sampling
' Groundwater samples were collected from the three monitoring wells on site in accordance with
RESNA's groundwater sampling protocol (Appendix B) Groundwater purged from the wells and
I equipment decontamination water was placed in drums approved by the Department of
Transportation for this purpose and left on-site pending removal by a licensed hauler The volume
of groundwater removed from each well is noted on the groundwater sampling field log included In
' Appendix C.
I
