FIELD PROCEDURES
Groundwater Measuring, Purging, and Samn11112
The water level in each well was measured with an electronic water level indicator The wells
were checked for free product with a clean, disposable polyethylene bailer prior to purging and
sampling Purging of the wells included the removal of approximately three well volumes of
water from each well by using disposable polyethylene bailers Groundwater samples were then
collected with new polyethylene disposable bailers and decanted into appropriate sampling
containers provided by the analytical laboratory The samples were immediately placed in an ice-
chest containing ice and submitted under chain-of-custody to a California Department of Health
Services certified laboratory for analysis of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g)
using modified EPA method 8015 and Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Total Xylenes using
EPA method 602 A clean "travel blank" of distilled water was transported along with the water
samples for the purposes of detecting cross-contamination from field activities
Prior to samphng the wells, the sampling equipment was cleaned with a solution of Liqumox and
water to minimize the potential for cross-contamination between the wells All water removed
during purging operations was placed in sealed, Iabeled 55 gallon drums and stored on-site
INK
WALLACE KUHL
Recycled n°pe' Fr ASSOCIATES INC.
