INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE OF WORK
IAt the request of Mr Joe Toste, Jr of Tracy Marine Sales, Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc
(AGE), has prepared the enclosed cone penetrometer testing (CPT) report for 2450 Toste Road,
Tracy, California The report documents procedures and results for a subsurface investigation
' conducted at the site during March 2001 The site setting is Illustrated on Figure 1 Site structures,
boring, monitoring well and CPT locations are depicted on Figure 2
' The objective of the CPT investigation was to characterize and assess petroleum hydrocarbons in
ground water and to characterize stratigraphy at the site This report is prepared in accordance with
I guidelines established by the California Regional Water Quality Control Board - Central Valley
Region (RWQCB) for investigation of underground storage tank (UST) sites A summary of
previous investigations at the site and background information is included in the AGE-prepared
' Additional Site Assessment Work Plan, dated 30 October 2000 and Quarterly Report -December
1999, dated 14 February 2000
I• 2.0. PROCEDURES
On 13 March 200I, two soil borings (CPT-1 and CPT-2) were advanced on-site utilizing CPT
technology to model the geological and hydro-geological framework and to assess the vertical extent
of dissolved petroleum-hydrocarbons beneath the site Lithologic data was collected from an initial
' CPT soil boring in each locality, a twin boring was then advanced to collect grab ground water
samples from selected depths Boring logs are presented in Appendix A, a site plan depicting boring
locations is presented In Figure 2
I
21 CPT LITHOLOGIC INVESTIGATION
ISoil borings CPT-1 and CPT-2 were advanced vertically to a maximum depth of 70 feet below
I surface grade(bsg),utilizing a 25-ton truck-mounted CPT drill ng equipped with 1 50-inch diameter
hollow-stem rods A hydraulic ram was utilized for each CPT soil boring to advance a cone
penetrometer tip to total depth of the soil boring Soil parameters such as cone penetrometer tip
I resistance, sleeve friction, friction ratio (ratio between sleeve friction and tip resistance) and pore
water pressure were continuously measured as the cone penetrometer was advanced to depth A
continuous boring log was generated utilizing the Hogentogler Co CPT computer program The
Hogentogler Co computer program utilized the CPT Soil Behavior Classification System
(Robertson, P K,Campanella,R G,Gillespie,D and Greig,J, 1986)to generate a general hthology
• type and display on a CPT boring log(See Appendix A) Rinseate generated during this investigation
Advanced GcoEnvironmental,Inc
