Alaniz, John
From: Steve Heinen <s.heinen@pacificsteelgroup.com>
Sent: Tuesday, April 21, 2020 5:53 PM
To: Alaniz, John; David Scurlock
Cc: Dan Fonseca; Brian Lohr; Robert Thomas
Subject: RE: Hazardous Waste SJC EHD
Mr. Alaniz,
I'm Steve Heinen, Pacific Steel Group's maintenance manager. I'm responding to your email because Hector is no longer
with PSG. I was aware of the inspection of 4/7/19 and it was my understanding from Hector, a Compliance Certification
was sent to you. Apparently I was given false information. We will start putting together a corrective action submittal
right away.
I apologize for our failure to have these violations remedied last year. Please feel free to contact me by email or phone.
619-433-5809
From:Alaniz,John <jalanizl@sjgov.org>
Sent:Tuesday, April 21, 2020 3:32 PM
To: Steve Heinen <s.heinen@pacificsteelgroup.com>; David Scurlock<d.scurlock@pacificsteelgroup.com>; x- Hector
Vargas<h.vargas@pacificsteelgroup.com>
Cc: Dan Fonseca <d.fonseca@pacificsteelgroup.com>
Subject: Hazardous Waste SJC EHD
CAUTION:This email originated from outside of the organization. Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the
sender and know the content is safe.
Hi Hector,
A hazardous waste inspection was done on 4/7/2019. 1 never received a complete return to compliance from the
facility. On a separate inspection, Robert Lopez, Hazardous Material Business Plan (HMBP) Inspector, performed an
inspection on the materials at the facility. Through his return to compliance documents, the following violations were
closed:
Violation 101: Managed a hazardous waste without an identification number.
Violation 107: Failed to prepare a contingency plan.
Violation 125: Failed to submit in CERS.
All of the other violations are still open. I have attached the report in the email. Please read through it and submit the
corrective actions required for each violation. I also need a signed return to compliance form. If you have any
questions, let me know. Please respond by 4/28/2020.
Thank You,
John Alaniz
REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
