n
IMPORTANT NOTE: Site HazMat tools, such as PanDash and CSI only contain product information if the
material is regulated as a Hazardous Material ("HMT") as defined by US Department of Transportation
(DOT). DOT classifications alone do not provide sufficient information to classify wastes according to
EPA RCRA regulations.
PanDash and CSI should be utilized for product hazards information and to ensure that materials are
segregated, stored and shipped in a compliant fashion. This is especially helpful for upstream groups to
flag items and presort them for safety to further evaluate and designate.
Pandash and CSI are helpful when no other information is immediately available and/or as an initial tool
to see whether a product is a probable hazardous waste. The tools can provide DOT classifications shown
below which can indicate whether a product should be further reviewed using an SDS to determine if it is
hazardous, i.e. ignitable (D001), corrosive (D002), reactive (D003), toxic (D004 -D043) or listed waste (F, P
or U listed) under RCRA or state requirements.
9/23/2019
Nine Classes of Hazardous Materials
Class 1: Explosives Class 2: Gases Class 3: Flammable Class 4: Flammable Class 5: Oxidizer and
Dwoo- 1.1, 12, 1.3, 1A, Drvisons:'2.1, 2,2,'2.3 Liquid and Solid, Spontaneously Organic Peroxide
1.6, 1.6 Combustible Liquid Combustible, and D'Md-6.1,6.2
® Dangerous When Wet
D iso 54.1,4.2,4.3
GXYGEp i +
\
Poen <RADIOACTIV> r r
POs 1118 ✓ \\\ / //
Class 6: Poison (Toxic) and Class 7: Radioactive Class & Corrosive Class 9: Dangerous
Poison Inhalation Hazard Miscellaneous
Federal Motor Carrier
S®U.
