Highway 33
Tracy, CA 95376
PESTICIDES IN GROUND WATER AT YOUR FACILITY
Sampling conducted by Regional Board staff in June 1986 revealed the presence of
several pesticides in shallow ground water at your facility. The sampling
results are presented on Page A-D10 of the enclosed report; your facility (#10
in the reports is further discussed on pages 3, 4, A-05 and A-C6 of the report.
Although your new waste management system should not result in any additional
pesticide discharges to ground at your facility, corrective measures appear
necessary to address the effect of past waste disposal . Accordingly, you are
requested, pursuant to section 13267 of the California Water Code, to submit to
the Regional Board, by 10 May 1987, a work plan and time schedule for an
investigation to determine the horizontal and vertical extent of soil
contamination and ground water degradation caused by waste discharged at Trinkle
and Boys Ag Flying, Inc. , Tracy. The investigation shall include a summary of
wastes discharged at the facility, an evaluation of ground water location and
flow, construction and sampling of at least one upgradient and two downgradient
wells, and soil borings and analyses necessary to define the extent of waste
residues that have the potential to affect water quality. I have enclosed an
information sheet on sampling and analyses plans to assist you in preparing the
work plan. The investigation report shall contain proposed mitigation measures
based on findings at the site. The report shall be submitted by 1 September
1987.
After completion of the requested investigation, staff will meet with you to
discuss the proposed remedial measures. If your investigation confirms that
' hazardous wastes ' are present in on-site waste disposal areas, the State
Department of Health Services will be involved in selecting the necessary
remedial measures.
