INTRODUCTION <br /> At the request of Mr Joe Toste, Sr , Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc (AGE) has prepared this <br />' report documenting monitoring-well abandonment, overexcavation of hydrocarbon-impacted soil <br /> from the floor and sidewalls of a former gasoline underground storage tank(UST) excavation, and <br /> reinstallation of monitoring-wells for 2450 Toste Road,Tracy,California(Figure 1) The report has <br /> been prepared as required by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD)by <br /> letter to Mr Toste, dated 18 March 2003 <br /> This report was prepared in accordance with the California Regional Water Quality Control Board- <br /> Central Valley Region (CVRWQCB)'s recommendations and guidelines for the investigation of <br /> UST sites Site background information is provided in Appendix A <br /> 2.0. PROCEDURES <br /> Monitoring wells MW-4,MW-7 and MWA A/B (dual-completed well)were abandoned on 22 May <br /> 2003 as part of over-excavation activities to remove hydrocarbon-impacted soil related to an <br /> unauthorized release of petroleum hydrocarbons from former USTs at the site Over-excavation of <br /> the former gasoline UST excavation was conducted between 28 and 30 May 2002, and monitoring <br />' wells MWAA, MWAB, MW-4 and MW-7 were reinstalled on 30 June 2003 The work was <br /> performed in accordance with the AGE-prepared Remedial Action Work Plan and Remedial Action <br /> Work Plan Addendum, dated 31 October 2002 and. 31 December 2002, respectively, and approved <br /> by EHD on 18 March 2003 <br /> 2 1 MONITORING WELL ABANDONMENT <br /> On 22 May 2003, in preparation for excavation of petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil at the site, <br /> monitoring wells MW-IA/B (dual-completed well), MW-4 nd MW-7 were abandoned by over- <br /> dnihng the wells to total depth To facilitate excavation,the=17were backfilled to approximately <br /> 8 feet below surface grade(bsg)with portland cement and with bentonite from 8 feet bsg to surface <br /> grade <br /> I22 EXCAVATION OF HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL <br /> IPetroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil was excavated at the site by Valued Engineering of Stockton, <br /> • California, utilizing a backhoe Soil was excavated to an approximate depth of 8 feet bsg at the <br /> former gasoline UST area <br /> IAdvanced CeoEnvironmentul,Inc <br /> I <br />
