The City is requesting
an extension for preparation of the work plan for the site contamination revealed in an initial
study that is requested in your letter of May 12, 2003. As you know, a municipal water well
(Tidewater Well) is located within approximately 1,000 feet of the site.
The City requires time for the administrative contract amendments to be prepared and reviewed,
for Wright to prepare budgets and obtain Council approval and begin work. The City
administrative process requires at least 45 days to accomplish the administrative process;
therefore, we are requesting an extension of 60 days from the June 30, 2003 date.
Wright Environmental Services, Inc., has contacted the City regarding the request for a 2,000-
foot well search. The State Water Resources Control Board office has prepared the search, a
copy of which is attached to this letter. Wright also has briefly discussed the County request for
sampling of the Tidewater Well with the City and the County. The latest City chemical sampling
data for this well was completed in August 2002. It is our understanding that this is acceptable
to the County at this time, and a copy of those data is attached to this letter. Furthermore, at the
next sampling of this municipal well all parameters requested by PHS-EHD will be sampled and
tested for at a State certified Laboratory. If you have any questions, please call me at
(209) 831-4460.
Sincerel ,
Pau erma, PE
Senior Civil Engineer
cc: Kuldeep Sharma
John Lynch —Wright Environmental
Attachments: SWRCB Well Search Results
Tidewater Well Chemical Sampling Data Results, August 2002
09-061903jc
