During <br /> these activities, a 550-gallon waste oil tank was removed from <br /> " the crest side of the Arco station. Upon tank removal, <br /> environmental services were required to define the condition of <br /> the tank excavation site. All AEMC services were perfomed under <br /> i. contract with Warren-Teed. <br /> On 5 December 1986 , AEMC utilized a backhoe to excavate and <br /> remove the 550-gallon waste oil tank. Upon tank removal, AEMC <br /> `r detected several small holes located at both the top and bottom <br /> of the excavated tank. Soil discoloration and petroleum odors <br /> were detected in the excavation. Efforts were made by AEMC to <br /> '-' segregate contaminated soils from apparently clean soils. <br /> Ms. Margaret Lagorio of the San Joaquin Local Health District was <br /> present during tank removal and soil sampling activities. <br /> a.. Under the District's observation, AEMC collected one undisturbed <br /> soil sample. labeled as Tracy #1. The sample was delivered to <br /> Eureka Laboratories, Incorporated, a State-Certified hazardous <br /> y waste testing facility (Certification No. 108). Please refer to <br /> the attached Site Plan for the sampling location. AEMC requested <br /> Eureka Laboratories to analyze soil sample Tracy #1 for <br /> halogenated volatile organics (EPA Method 8010), aromatic <br /> volatile organics (EPA Method 8020), polychlorinated biphenyls <br /> (EPA Method 8080) and total petroleum hydrocarbons (modified EPA <br />
