Steve Welge <br /> L Field Engineer <br /> ARCO Petroleum Products Company <br /> 37373 Sequoia Road <br /> w <br /> Fremont, California 94536 017-3174-01/4 <br /> Subject: Initial Site Investigation at ARCO Station 2093 <br /> Dear Mr. Welge: <br /> On January 21, 1987, Brown and Caldwell (BC) conducted an initial <br /> field investigation at ARCO Station 2093 located at 3425 Tracy <br /> Boulevard , in Tracy , California (see Figure 1 enclosed) . The <br /> purpose of the investigation was to evaluate the quality of the soil <br /> underlying an excavation from which one underground waste oil <br /> storage tank was removed . <br /> Two soil samples were taken from the bucket of the backhoe after <br /> first extracting the sluff from the excavation. Sample AT--1 was <br /> taken from fresh clayey soil at the bottom of the excavation at <br /> approximately 12. 0 feet in depth . Sample AT-2 was taken from fresh <br /> sandy soil from the side of the excavation . Both samples were <br /> submitted to BC ' s Emeryville laboratory and analyzed for purgeable <br /> halocarbons (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method <br /> 8010) , total petroleum fuel hydrocarbons (EPA 8015) , benzene , <br /> `+ ethylbenzene , toluene , and xylene (BTX) (EPA 8020) , and poly- <br /> chlorinated biphenyls (PCB) (EPA 8080) . The results of these <br /> analyses are summarized in Table 1 (enclosed) .
