Weber Street, Third Floor
Stockton, California 95202
Re: Well Abandonment Workplan
ARCO Service Station No.2093
3425 Tracy Boulevard,Tracy,California
Dear Mr. Knoll:
On behalf of Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO), URS Corporation Americas (URS) has prepared
this workplan for the abandonment of 12 groundwater monitoring wells (ATR-1 through ATR-12) at
ARCO Service Station No. 2093 (site) located at 3425 Tracy Boulevard, Tracy, California (Figures 1
and 2). This workplan has been prepared based on the June 23, 2005, letter from the California
Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region (CRWQCB-CVR) to the San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD) regarding concurrence on a no-further-action-
required decision for the site (Attachment A). 1
i
SITE BACKGROUND
Currently, the site is operated as an ARCO service station with an AM/PM mini-mart. The site is
bounded by commercial property to the west and north, Tracy Boulevard to the east, and West Clover
Road to the south. The majority of the site is paved.
Site structures include double-walled fiberglass gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs), two pump
islands, and the AM/PM mini-mart. During previous site work, 12 groundwater monitoring wells
(ATR-1 through ATR-12), 7 soil vapor extraction wells (VES-1 through VES-7), 3 air sparging (AS)
wells (S-1 through S-3), and 1 groundwater monitoring/AS well (SMW-1) were installed (Figure 2).
Groundwater extraction well, TEX-1, was properly abandoned in January 2004.
SCOPE OF WORK
This workplan includes discussion of permitting, well abandonment methods, and report preparation. A
health and safety plan has been prepared and will'be available on site during field activities.
URS Corporation
Crown Corporate Center
2870 Gateway Oaks Drive,Suite 300
Sacramento,CA 95833 _
Tel: 916.679.2000
Fax:916.679.2900 KAWproccssV5 BP ARC01020931Well Destr12093 Well Destruction WP O5.doc
