Jason Magness To "Verne_Brown@URSCorp com" <Verne_Brown@URSCorp comp
#j <MagnessJR@pplant cc
UCDavis educe Subject Proposal
07/23/02 09 59 AM
Verne,
was hoping to get back to you sooner on the proposal, but Joe Stagner dust returned from a week long
vacation yesterday I met with both Joe, and David Phillips to discuss both the technical details about the
proposal as well as budgetary impacts Since the EMF pot of money is tight this year and Joe felt some of
the tasks were not needed at this point, we need to get a revised proposal from URS
Task 1 - OK as proposed
Task 2 -delete for now If we see evidence of a larger plume to the north of well 16C, we may need to
revisit the possibility of reinstating a scaled down version of this task
Task 3 - revised costs for only one-4" monitoring well, and one-8" extraction well We would also like to
get costs for the one extraction well at 10", and 12" diameters rather than 8" The larger the EW diameter,
the more efficient the remediation, so we are going to do a quick estimate on return if we went up to a
larger diameter well
Task 4 - OK as proposed
'• Task 5 - l may need to exercise this task later, but I am not going to authorize at this time
Additional info (resumes) I would like provided is specifically who will perform the field work (logging soil,
overseeing the well construction, aquifer testing, etc ) and who will do the Modeling and aquifer
characterization data interpretation
Also include a draft schedule I hope to begin the field work in a few months, so the work plan to UCD by
the end of September if possible After I get a revised proposal from URS, I should be able to cut an
authorization for you to begin Task 1
Jason
