M <br /> tl <br /> 1 QUARTERLY SUMMARY REPORT <br /> 1 ST QTR - 1994 <br /> (JANUARY-MARCH) <br /> UNOCAL SERVICE STATION #6348 <br /> 3788 Tracy Boulevard <br /> Tracy, California <br /> City/County ID # NIA <br /> COUNTY San Joaquin_ <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> During removal of an underground waste oil tank in 1990, soil contamination was discovered A <br /> portion of the contaminated soil was removed In 1991 four monitoring wells were installed <br /> Additional soil borings delineated the extent of oil and gasoline contamination adjacent to the <br /> underground tank locations Monitoring Well MW-3 was abandoned on November 24, 1992 in <br /> preparation for the removal of the underground fuel tanks The underground fuel tanks and associated <br /> piping were removed on December 23, 1992 Overexcavation of hydrocarbon-affected soil was <br /> conducted around the former underground fuel tanks and the pump islands Approximately 1,320 <br /> gallons of groundwater were pumped from the tank excavation during the backfill operation Well <br /> MW-3A was installed at the site on November 29, 1993 to replace well MW-3 All the excavated soils <br /> were characterized and disposed of at local Class III landfills <br /> RECENT QUARTER ACTIVITIES <br /> • A Site Remediation Report (dated March 1994) summarizing previous remediation activities was <br /> prepared for submitral to the San Joaquin County Health Department On behalf of Unocal, <br /> Mittelhauser recommended petitioning for site closure following four quarters of confirmation <br /> groundwater sampling Quarterly monitoring and sampling was performed on March 4, 1994 by MPDS <br /> Services No dissolved hydrocarbons were detected in the groundwater at the site <br /> NEXT QUARTER ACTIVITIES <br /> Quarterly Monitoring and Sampling is scheduled to occur during June 1994 <br /> CHARACTERIZATION / REMEDIAL STATUS <br /> Soil contamination delineated?
