(AGE) and approved by San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (EHD). Odor of petroleum hydrocarbons was detected
in the soil samples collected from the MW-4 horing below the groundwater table. AGE
staff also recorded the presence of hydrocarbons at a concentration of 45 parts per million
(ppm) using the field organic vapor detector (Photo Ionization Detector). MW-4 is located
about 40 feet southwest (a downgradient direction) of the former underground storage tanks
(UST). An inactive domestic well is located about 200 feet southwest of the UST, and a
domestic well (DW-1) is located about 240 feet southwest of the UST.
Due to the proximity of the domestic wells to the former UST, the presence of
contamination found in MW-4 soil samples, and the highly mobile nature of the
contaminant methyl tent butyl ether (NITBE) which has been repeatedly detected in the
groundwater at this site, EHD directs an additional monitoring well be placed between MW-
4 and the domestic well. EHD also directs you to include sampling of the domestic well in
all future quarterly sampling effective immediately.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jeffrey Wong at (209) 468-0335.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
Je frey Wang, Senior REHS Margaret Lagorio,REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
c: RWQCB, Central Valley Region—James L.
