Before receiving a <br /> PHS/EHD corrective action directive and in order to receive the SWRCB Clean up <br /> Fund Letter of committment, you must make application to the State of <br /> California Water Resources Control Board's (SWRCB) "Petroleum Underground <br /> Storage Tank Cleanup Fund" (Fund) . An application package for the Fund has <br /> been provided. <br /> I <br /> The Fund was created pursuant to Chapter 6.75 of the California Health and I <br /> Safety Code to help eligible owners and operators of petroleum underground <br /> storage tanks to: <br /> 1. Hest federal requirements to demonstrate financial responsibility; <br /> � 2. Obtain reimbursement for costs of the cleanup of unauthorized , <br /> releases of petroleum from LISTS; and <br /> i <br /> 3. Obtain reimbursement .for damages awarded to third parties who are i <br /> i.njured. by petroleum releases. <br /> The maximum amount available from the Fund is $990,000 per occurrence. <br /> claimants are responsible for the first $10,000 of eligible costs. <br /> Applications must be submitted to the SWRCB Clean Up Fund by March 31, 1994 to <br /> { undergo eligibility ranking for funding in the 1994-95 state fiscal budget <br /> year. All subsurface investigations and remedial actions must be performed' <br /> under a workplan approved by PHS/EHD. <br /> ` The Fund does not cover the costs, incurred for the removal, repair, retrofit, <br /> or installation of USTs. Should you wish to obtain a low interest loan for <br /> the upgrade of your tank system, please contact the State of California Trade <br /> and Commerce Agency, UST Loan Program, regarding their loan requirements, at <br /> (916) 445-6733.
