One domestic
well is Iocated inside the pump house, and the second one is located immediately outside the pump
house. EHD has confirmed the domestic well inside the pump house is not functioning and
currently in a state of disrepair.
According to San Joaquin County Well Standards,Section 6.1, When a well... has fallen into such a state
of disuse or disrepair that it ...found to be abandoned, it must be destroyed under a well destruction permit. You are
directed to destroy the domestic well currently in disrepair by]uly 31,2004. A well destruction
permit must be submitted to EHD by a C-57 licensed well drilling contractor. The current fee for a
well destruction permit is $150.
A groundwater contamination investigation is currently being carried out at the site. The two
domestic drinking wells are located about 240 feet southwest in a down-gradient flow direction from
the former underground storage tank (UST) location. The presence of Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g) and methyl tert butyl ether (MTBE) has been detected repeatedly
in the monitoring wells at this site. EHD staff has also noted the presence of petroleum odor in
# groundwater samples of the recently installed monitoring well AfW-4,which is located about 80 feet
from the two domestic wells. If the functioning domestic well has been impacted by contamination,
you may be eligible for cost reimbursement of the replacement of the functioning domestic well
from California Underground Storage Tank Clean Up Fund.
If you have any questions, please contact Jeffrey Wong at(209) 468-0335.
Donna Hera n,REHS,Director
Environmental Health Department
Jeffrey Wong,Senior REHS .
