i • Site Background Information YAMADA BROTHERS ` 15406 South Tracy Boulevard, Stockton, California IThe site is located on Union Island on the east side of South Tracy Boulevard,south of Clifton Court Road and north of the Grant Line Canal,north of the City of Tracy, San Joaquin County,California The site is located in the northern half of Section 29,Township 1 South,Range 5 East,Mount Diablo Base and Meridian in an area of low topographic relief,at an elevation of approximately 3 feet above mean sea level (Union Island Quadrangle, 7 5-Minute USGS Topographic Series, 1978) The site Iand surrounding area operate as farms REGIONAL GEOLOGIC/HYDROGEOLOGIC SETTING The property is situated within the Great Valley Geomorphic Province of California, a large, elongate, northwest trending, asymmetric structural trough The Great Valley Province has been filled with thick sequences of sediment ranging in age from Jurassic to Recent,creating a nearly flat- lying alluvial plain,extending from the Tehachapi Mountains in the south to the Klamath Mountains I in the north The western and eastern boundaries of this province are the California Coast Range and the Sierra Nevada, respectively Rocks composing the basement complex of the province have not been completely defined but are believed to be of metamorphic and igneous origins The northern • and southern portions of the Great Valley Province have been designated the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys, respectively IThe Modesto, Riverbank and Turlock Lake Formations and overlying recent alluvium are the principal source of domestic ground water in the 13,500-square-mile San Joaquin Valley Ground Water Basin(Basin 5-22) This basin is drained primarily by the San Joaquin River Ground water Iis considered to be of beneficial use and is used for domestic, industrial and commercial purposes Three domestic wells are located approximately 150 feet southwest of the former USTs location According to Mr Bob Yamada,bottled water is used for all drinking water and cooking at the site UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL AGE has been informed that two USTs were removed from the site in July 1991 Ground water was encountered at a depth of approximately 7 feet below surface grade(bsg) during the UST removal Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as diesel (TPH-d) were detected in a grab water sample collected from the excavation at a concentration of 210 micrograms per liter (µg/1) following removal oftheUST Analytical results of soil samples collected were not available The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(ET-1D)subsequently required investigation to determine the extent of impacted soil and ground water IAdvanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc I
