Mr. Smith has
been involved with the subsurface investigation of the north shore and south shore Stockton
Redevelopment project. Mr. Smith indicated that well MW8, located on the southwest corner of
Lincoln and Weber, approximately 120 feet southwest of the underground storage tanks (USTs)
closed in place at the Waterfront Yacht Harbor site, was sampled in 1999. Well MW7, located
on the southeast corner of Lincoln: and Weber, was not sampled. Mr. Smith indicated that
groundwater beneath the site generally flowed south-southwest, and summarized analytical
results of the groundwater sample collected from MW8 as follows:
TPHd TPHg Benzene Toluene Eth (benzene R lenes MTBE
<50 ppb <50 ppb <0.5 ppb 0.9 ppb <0.5 ppb <0.5 ppb <10 b
The results of the investigation were included in a December 13, 1999 Site Characterization Report
prepared for the City of Stockton Department of Housing and Redevelopment, and submitted to the
California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) and the California Regional Water
Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region (RWQCB). According to Mr. Smith, the contact at
the RWQCB is Ms. Wendy Cohen.
Based upon the recent analytical results of groundwater samples collected from well MW8,
which is located generally downgradient of the USTs in question, and based upon the evidence
presented in correspondence from Ground Zero dated October 26, 2000, Ground Zero concludes
that further investigation of the subject site is not warranted.
