(GTI) is presenting this letter in
response to your request for clarification of several points
noted during your review of the assessment report for the above
eferenced site.. The report is entitled "Assessment Report, Sub-
surface Hydrocarbon Investigation, The Beverage Source, Inc. , IBC
Winery, 1 west Turner Road, Lodi, California" and is dated May
25, 1988. In the following paragraphs, GTI will address all the
points noted in your letter to Mr. Scott Stoner of The Beverage
Source, dated August 2, 1988.
A question was raised regarding the field screening procedures
used during the drilling operations at the site. GTI used a
Photovac TIP photo-ionization detector (PID) utilizing a 10. 2
electron volt ionization source to field screen all soil samples,
GTI neglected to include the results of the field screening
--- ---- --- -- --
process --within--the assessment .report, This oversight may be
explained by the fact that all soil samples yie.tae -non- e--
tectable readings. Revised drill .logs have been enclosed with
this letter which include the PID readings (Attachment I) .
A question was raised regarding diesel odor noted in NMw-1 . The
odor was not noted in Sample F as stated in your letter, but in
the cuttings between Samples x and G. Subsequently, Sample G was
submitted for laboratory analysis and was found to vield non-
.. carada and or,:'si as . .
