Hazelton Avenue
.ot
P. 0. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Attention: Ron Valinoti
Gentlemen:
Re: Project at it W. Turner Road, Lodi, CA
In response to your letter dated July 7, 1989, the property owners are submitting
a detailed drawing of the site excavation showing the location of the soil boring and
monitoring wells installed by Groundwater Technology, Inc, The drawing also shows the
dimensions of the current excavation and the location of the closest industrial well
on the property, There are two more industrial wells within 100 feet and all three are
idle and ready to be closed permanently. Prior to closure, a water sample will be taken
for analysis from each of the wells.
- Our additional sample plan is to:
First: Take a water sample from the existing water in the excavation. Then
to pump the water into the diked settling pond on site and take an additional
sample from the water in the excavation when it is approximately half empty.
Then pump the balance of the water into the settling pond. The pumped out
water will be left to evaporate in the pond.
Levels of water in the industrial wells can be measured when taking
water samples; however, monitoring wells #1 and #3 were hiddenunder piles
of rubble and soil during demolition and excavation. Only monitoring well
#2 is accessible at this time and the level couid be taken in it and the
industrial wells for determining hydraulic connection.
Regarding monitoring well samples: We feel that since no sign of
ground water contamination was found in the original site analysis; the
water samples from the open excavation, the industrial wells, and rnanitoring
well #2 should prove whether or not there is any contamination.
Second: After the water is pumped out, we will proceed to take 16 bottom sim
at the points shown on our drawing, ples
Third: Side wall samples will be taken starting at 5 feet up from the bottom
and continuing up at 5 foot intervals (i.e. Below Grade: 40' , 35 , 30', 251,
20', 15', 10', 5'), in approximately a verticle line on all four sides of
- the excavation.
The sidewall samples taken at 40' and the bottom samples will be analyzed
first so a determination can be made regarding the need to analyze the shallow
side wall samples.
