PHASE 11 ENVIRONMENTAL SOIL SAMPLING <br /> AT&T MICROWAVE RELAY FACILITY <br /> 90 WEST TURNER ROAD,SACRAMENTO,CALIFORNIA <br /> CONFIDENTIAL AND PRIVILEGED <br /> III. SOIL BORING INVESTIGATION <br />' Soil Boring Locations <br /> Pnor to drilling, Underground Service Alert (USA) was contacted on August 3, 1999, to identify known utilities that <br /> service the Subject Property in order to select soil boring locations This investigation was assigned USA number <br /> 546154 A health a safety plan was reviewed and signed by all personnel performing the investigation <br />' ATC applied for, and received a soil boring permit from the San Joaquin County Public Health Services — <br /> Environmental Health Division A copy of this permit is presented in Appendix A <br /> The scope of work for the soil sampling investigation included drilling a total of ten soil bonngs using a truck-mounted <br /> Geoprobe® Fieldwork was conducted on August 24, 1999 Soil bonngs were drilled in the vicinity of the former <br />' UST Bonng B1 was terminated at a depth of 26 feet bgs due to refusal in the dense soil Boring B10 was terminated <br /> at a depth of 12 feet bgs due to encountenng a concrete obstruction (the UST slab) Borings B2 through B9 were <br /> completed to a depth of 32 feet bgs The general locations of the soil borings are listed in Table i below <br /> Table 1 - Soil Boring Locations for 90 West Turner Road, Lodi, CA, drilled August 5 and 24, 1999 <br />' SOIL BORING LOCATION <br /> B1 Adjacent to southwest corner of former UST <br /> B2 South of former UST <br /> B3 South of former UST <br /> B4 North of former UST <br /> B5 East of former UST <br />' B6 Southwest of former UST <br /> B7 West of former UST <br /> B8 East of former UST <br />' B9 Southeast of former UST <br /> B10 East of former UST <br />' Soil locations are illustrated in the Site Detail Map - Figure 3 Soil boring locations were determined using tape <br /> boring g <br /> measurements from existing site features <br />' Soil Sampling <br />' The soil borings were drilled using truck-mounted direct rod push equipment (Geoprobe(k) The Geoprobe® rods and <br /> sampling tube equipment were either steam cleaned or washed with an Alconox and water solution and triple nnsed <br /> prior to use to protect against possible cross contamination Soil samples were continuously cored and logged The <br />' soil samples collected for laboratory analysis were collected at various depths between 4 feet and 32 feet bgs The soil <br /> samples collected by the Geoprobeg dnlling equipment were collected using a 2-inch diameter barrel sampler lined <br /> with a clear plastic tube Samples were driven into the ground in either 24" Increments or 48"increments depending on <br />' local soil conditions The sampler containing the plastic liner, with the relatively undisturbed soil sample, was <br /> removed ATC selected a segment of the sample to be retained for Iaboratory analysis based on a desired depth and <br /> hydrogeologic variations The selected liners were then sealed with Teflon tape, covered with polypropylene end caps, <br /> 4 <br />
