i <br /> k4 KLEINFELDER <br /> 1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY <br /> This report summarizes Kleinfelder's groundwater sampling activities conducted for the third <br /> quarter, 2003 at the General Mills Facility located at 2000 West Turner Road in Lodi, California <br /> Mr Wade Broughton retained Kleinfelder to conduct the activities based upon Kleinfelder's x <br />' proposal titled "Proposal/Cost Estimate, Groundwater Monitoring and Reporting, and Remedial <br /> Activities, General Mills Facility, 2000 West Turner Road, Lodi, California," dated March 18, <br /> 2003 F <br />' Groundwater samples were collected from each of the four monitoring wells, MW-1, MW-2, <br /> MW-3, and MW-4 on September 25, 2003 The groundwater samples were analyzed for total <br />' extractable petroleum hydrocarbons as referenced to diesel (TPH-D), purgeable hydrocarbons as <br /> referenced to gasoline (TPH-G), and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) <br /> No product or sheen was observed in the groundwater samples collected from MWs-2, 3, and 4 <br /> during this sampling event An approximate three quarter inch of product and a strong petroleum <br />' like odor were noted in the initial purge water from MW-1 <br /> Groundwater elevations ranged from —0 61 at MW-2 to 0 84 feet at MW-4 The groundwater <br /> flow direction was to the southwest with an approximate gradient of 0 005 ft/ft This <br /> groundwater flow direction and gradient is generally consistent with previous quarterly sampling - <br /> events (See Table 1) <br /> The analytical results for the groundwater samples collected are summarized in Section 5 and <br /> Table 2 of this report TPH-D, TPH-G and ethylbenzene were detected in the groundwater - <br />' sample collected from MW-1 TPH-D was detected at a concentration of 32 mg/l and TPH-G <br /> was detected at a concentration of 1 9 mg/l Ethylbenzene was detected at 0 57 microgram per <br /> liter (µg/1) No other requested petroleum constituents were detected in groundwater collected <br /> from MW-1 TPH-D was detected in MW-2 at 0 14 mg/1 None of the other requested analytes <br /> were detected in the groundwater samples collected from the down-gradient monitoring wells, <br /> MW-2 and MW-3, nor from the upgradient well MW-4 For a complete summary of our <br />' findings, including conclusions and recommendations please refer to Section 6 of this report <br /> A copy of this report should be submitted to the San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Department, Environmental Health Division (EHD) and the State of California, Central Valley <br /> Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) for their review and comment <br /> k <br /> This report, and the conclusions and recommendations presented, are subject to the "Limitations" � <br /> presented in Chapter 7 of this report Anyone other than the client, who wishes to use this <br />' document must complete the "Application for Authorization to Use" which is included as <br /> • Appendix D to this report <br /> 28209 T03/ST03R181 l Page I of I I <br />' ©2003 Kleinfelder, Inc December 29, 2003 <br />
