KLEIN FELDER
1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report summarizes Kleinfelder's Groundwater Sampling conducted for the second quarter,
' 2002 at the General Mills Facility located at 2000 West Turner Road in Lodi, California Mr
Wade Broughton retained Kleinfelder to conduct the activities based upon KIemfelder's proposal
titled "Proposal/Cost Estimate, Groundwater Monitoring and Reporting, General Mills Facility,
' 2000 West Turner Road, Lodi, California," dated June 19, 2002
Groundwater samples were collected from each of the four monitoring wells, MWs-1, 2, 3, and 4
' on June 20, 2002 The groundwater samples were analyzed for extractable hydrocarbons and
purgeable hydrocarbons as referenced to gasoline, benzene toluene, ethylbenzene, and total
xylenes, and for five oxygenates (TBA, MTBE, DF-PE, ETBE, and TAME)
No product or sheen was observed in the groundwater samples collected from MWs-2, 3, and 4,
during this sampling event A slight sheen and petroleum like odor were noted in the purge
' water from MW-1
Groundwater elevations ranged from 2 20 feet at MW-2 to 3 46 feet at MW-4 The groundwater
' flow direction was to the southwest at an approximate gradient of 0 004 ft/fl This groundwater
flow direction and gradient is generally consistent with the previous quarterly sampling event
(See Table 1)
The analytical results for the groundwater samples collected are summarized in Table 2 and
Section 5 of this report Total petroleum hydrocarbons as referenced to diesel (TPH-D) were
detected in the groundwater samples collected from MW-1 and MW-2 at concentrations of 27
mg/l and 0 076 milligram / liter(mg/1), respectively Total petroleum hydrocarbons as referenced
to gasoline (TPH-G) were also detected in the sample from MW-1 with a concentration of 1 7
mg/l, as well as ethylbenzene at 1 6 microgram / liter (µg/1) No petroleum constituents were
detected in the groundwater samples collected from MW-3 or MW-4, during this second quarter
2002 sampling event
For a complete summary of our findings including conclusions and recommendations please refer
to Section 6 of this report
A copy of this report should be submitted to the San Joaquin County Public Health Services
' Department, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) and the State of California, Central
Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) for their review and comment
' This report, and the conclusions and recommendations presented, are subject to the "Limitations"
presented in Chapter 7 of this report Anyone other than the client, who wishes to use this
document must complete the "Application for Authorization to Use" which is included as
Appendix D to this report
' 18748 T02/ST02R420 Page I of I i
©2002 Klemfelder,Inc August 29, 2002
1
