' k4 K L F I N F E L D E R <br /> MIt should be noted that the fuels stored in the former and existing non operating UST were diesel, <br /> kerosene and/or JP-4 het fuel which represent the "lighter" extractable hydrocarbon constituents, <br /> which can overlap the purgeable range hydrocarbon range Therefore gasoline type constituents <br /> (TPH-G) may be reported, although they may actually be these "lighter" type extractable <br /> constituents <br /> 1 6.3 RECOMMENDATIONS <br />' Based on the desire of General Mills to receive closure of an existing and former UST site and <br /> because the vertical or horizontal extent of contamination is unknown, PHS/EHD and the <br /> RWQCB has requested General Mills to define the limits of the groundwater contaminant plume <br /> These two agencies have also requested that General Mills conduct a sensitive receptor survey <br /> and to estimate mass contaminant concentrations in soil and groundwater Kleinfelder therefore <br />' recommends the following <br /> 1 Continue quarterly monitoring of the existing monitoring well (MW-1) <br />' 2 Installation of three additional monitoring wells, two in a downgradient direction and one in an <br /> upgradient direction to better define the limits of the contaminant plume <br /> 3 Conduct a sensitive receptor survey and estimate contaminant concentrations in soil and <br /> groundwater for the assessment area <br /> 4 Analyze for oxygenates in groundwater after installation of the additional monitoring wells as <br /> requested by PHS/EHD for the closure process <br />' 5 Kleinfelder recommends that a copy of this report should be submitted to San Joaquin <br /> County Public Health Services Department, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) and <br />' the State of California, Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) for <br /> their review and comment <br />' b The purge water generated during the last two groundwater sampling events should be properly <br /> disposed of by the Client Kleinfelder can assist the Client in that disposal at an additional <br />' charge if requested by the client <br /> This report, and the conclusions and recommendations presented in this Executive Summary, are <br /> subject to the "Limitations" presented in Chapter 7 of this report Any other party (other than <br /> General Mills or regulatory agencies having enforcement jurisdiction for this site) who would <br /> like to use this report shall notify Kleinfelder, Inc of such intended use by executing the <br /> ' "Application for Authorization to Use" which is included as an appendix to this report <br /> ' 20-1417-16 E03/201 IR259 Page 9 of 1 <br /> Copynght 2001 Kleinfelder Inc February 28 2001 <br /> 1 <br />
