' 08 August 2000
AGE-NC Project No 99-0657
' labeled, placed in a chilled container and transported under chain-of-custody to Alpha Analytical
Laboratories, Inc (AAL) for analysis The samples were analyzed for the following
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) and diesel (TPH-d) in
accordance with EPA Methods 5030/8015-modified for fuels,
• Volatile aromatic compounds benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) in
accordance with EPA Method 8020,
• Volatile organic compounds and fuel oxygenates methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) di-
isopropyl ether (RIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether
(TAME), and tertiary butanol (TBA) in accordance with EPA Method 8260
3.0. FINDINGS
' 3 1 GROUND WATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION
lie At the time of the July 2000 sampling event, depths to ground water ranged from 3142 feet to 32 71
feet below the tops of the well casings Relative ground water elevations at the site ranged from 9 30
feet above mean sea level (MSL) in well MW3 to 9 82 feet above MSL in well MW I (Table 1)
During this monitoring event, the depths to ground water in the wells were approximately 140 to
2 70 feet below the tops of the well screens, indicating that the wells are screened properly and yield
representative ground water samples
I Ana apparent ground water mound has developed west of the former UST excavation To the east of
pp ' p
I the UST excavation, the ground water is flowing to the east-northeast Ground water is flowing in
a southeasterly direction to the south of the UST excavation The hydraulic gradient ranges form
0 008 feet/feet to 0 01 feet/feet Figure 3 illustrates the contoured ground water elevations as
Imeasured on 07 July 2000
3 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
TPH-g was detected in the all four ground water samples at concentrations ranging from 310 µg11
in MW2 to 15,000µg/1 in MW4 TPH-d was only detected in samples MWI and MW-4 at 580 µg/1
and 600 4g/1, respectively
Benzene was detected in all four water samples at concentrations ranging from 5 9 µg/1 in MW3 to
. 2,100 µg/1 in MW4 Toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes were detected in the four samples at
concentrations as high as 1,300 µg/l (toluene in sample MW4)
IAdvanced GeoEnvironmentaI,Inc
I
