i <br /> I19 November 1999 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 99-0657 <br /> IPage 4 of 10 <br /> will be clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert The <br /> PHS-EHD will be contacted a minimum of 48 hours prior to conducting investigation activities <br /> I32 SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS <br /> I Initially, AGE proposes to advance four soil probe borings in the vicinity of the former USTs and <br /> the dispenser island to evaluate the lateral and vertical extent of the petroleum hydrocarbon impacted <br /> soil Proposed probe boring locations are illustrated in Figure 2 <br /> One soil probe boring is proposed to be advanced near the location of the fanner USTs aithin the <br /> center of the former UST excavation to assess the vertical extent of impacted soil and to assess the <br /> impact to ground water, if any A second boring will be advanced near the former dispenser island <br /> to evaluate the vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbons detected in a soil sample collected during <br /> UST removal A third soil boring will be advanced in the assumed down-gradient direction (south- <br /> southwest) of the former USTs and dispenser island A fourth soil boring is proposed to be advanced <br /> directly north of the former UST location <br /> Soil probe borings are proposed to be advanced to depths of approximately 35 feet bsg However, <br /> total depths of probe borings will be based on field observations and field screening using an of ganic <br /> I vapor monitor (OVM) Soil samples will be collected from each probe boring at five-foot intervals <br /> from ground surface to the total depth of the boring Field procedures for advancement of probe <br /> borings and collection of soil samples are presented in Sections 4 1 and 4 2, respectively <br /> IUp to twelve soil samples, three soil samples from each soil probe boring, will be submitted for <br /> laboratory analysis Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a California Department of Health <br /> Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for the following constituents <br /> • TPH-g by EPA Method 8015 Modified/5030, <br /> • TPH-d by EPA Method 8015 Modified/5030, <br /> • BTEX by EPA Method 8020, and <br /> • Fuel oxygenating compounds including methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), di-Isopropyl ether <br /> (DIPS), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME) and tertiary <br /> butyl alcohol (TBA) by EPA Method 8260 <br /> I Laboratory reports for soil analyses, testing methods, laboratory duality assurance/quality control <br /> (QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report with <br /> . findings and recommendations <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br /> I <br />
