CONCENTRATIONS: <br /> Benzene Up to 980 mg/kg <br /> Toluene Up to 410 mg/kg <br /> Ethyl-benzene Up to 42 mg/kg <br /> . Total xylenes Up to 420 mg/kg <br /> MTBE Up to 2,800 mg/kg <br /> Gasoline 8,100 mg/kg <br /> Diesel 960 mg/kg <br /> The primary hazards of each are identified as follows <br /> 1 Hydrocarbon fuels-Components of fuels are colorless liquids with strong aromatic petroleum <br /> hydrocarbon-like odors They are flammable and have low solubility in water Exposure to <br /> these materials in excess of recommended exposure limits can cause mild eye, nose, and <br /> throat irritation and can produce a narcotic effect on the central nervous system Symptoms <br /> of exposure at these concentrations include headache,nausea,drowsiness,dizziness,and loss <br /> of coordination Certain components of gasoline (BTEX etc ) are known or suspected <br /> carcinogens <br /> The additional potential hazards include Slip-trip-fall hazards noise hem equipment i e <br /> excavator/backhoe), vibration hazards, traffic-hazards etc <br /> Advanced Geoltinwronmental,Inc <br />
